Q&A: Talking to Pali Badwal, Managing Director – RCI, India
(Part 02)

It is interesting to hear that Pali Badwal is the first-born British Indian of a Punjabi family.  He is a qualified accountant and graduated from the Liverpool John Moores University. Pali has over 14 years in travel which includes resort ownership and operations.  He joined Hoseasons, a UK rental company in early 2006, and was responsible for new sales distribution channels addressing consumer markets. Pali joined RCI India in April 2013 as Managing Director, where he is responsible for all exchange, rental and travel for the India region.

Q: In the long list of RCI benefits, does Exchange Holidays go right on top?

A: Absolutely right – the concept of Exchange Holidays is one of the best things to happen when you’re part of a timeshare family – and the best way to travel and see the world.

When members request an Exchange Holiday, their Deposit Trading Power is compared against the trading power of all available Exchange Holidays, referred to as their ‘Exchange Trading Power’, to determine the exchanges that are available to them. All of this is automated and available easily online at www.rci.com .

Q: Please tell us about GetAway Specials - this sounds interesting

A: We reward our members from time to time and GetAway Specials are one way we can do that. GetAway Specials are bonus holidays where members don’t have to draw from, or exchange their Holiday Week. When surplus weeks become available at any of RCI’s affiliated resorts, we offer them to our members - sometimes under special offers at a fraction of the published rates of the resort.

Q: Could you also explain your Split Week Exchange for the benefit of our readers?

A: This is a special feature at select participating resorts in India and Asia. The Split Week concept tries to mirror how some busy members take holidays – helping them split a full week into shorter breaks.

Under the Split Week Exchange, members have the option of taking two short holidays (midweek and weekend) instead of the regular one-week holiday. They can even take two different destinations instead of one.

A: Sourced by RCI in popular holiday destinations in India and elsewhere, this is a great way to have another holiday apart from exchange holidays, at exclusive member rates.
