LETTER FROM CHAIRMAN

Selecting the right timeshare
In my message last month, I started of on a very useful topic -
advice to new prospects on choosing timeshare. Thought I’d
add a few more guidelines this month to complete the picture.
Especially if you’re not sure of where to start or what
to look for.
As always, you need to do some homework on the right resort, the
right facilities and the right price tags. Don’t get locked
into a package with limited facilities and no future
perspective.
Here’s a handy checklist that will point you in the right
direction.
The family perspective
Does the timeshare you have in mind come close to a good annual
vacation for your family, year after year? This is where you need
to check things out and compare locations, features and
facilities.
A package for all age-groups
Is the resort you’re looking at, flexible enough to
accommodate activities for different age groups? As I have seen on
vacations with the family, it’s not easy to keep everybody
happy. So my advice here is check out everything the resort
has to offer, in terms of activities and local interest
offerings.
Compare packages, plans and prices
Review at least three resorts in your “meet-my-needs”
category, to ensure that you don’t settle for the first
acceptable offer that comes your way? (Compare locations, prices,
packages and a feel-good factor.)
Experience extra value
The “feel good” after a purchase is when you can
experience extra value on a holiday – which is a major
differentiator. And that’s something you can review in your
discussions with the marketing team, because some seasonal offers
can be really attractive.
The currency of exchange
- Does the package you’re looking at give you exchange points
or credits that can be redeemed at other network resorts /
destinations? Exchange value is a very important consideration.
Don’t forget to check this out.Check if the resort is
a member of AIRDA
If the resort you’re looking at is a member of AIRDA a lot of
things fall into place automatically. Member resorts of AIRDA play
straight and play clean. All you need to do is pick a plan that is
just right for your budget and family.
AIRDA memberships automatically guarantee industry acceptable
standards in terms of features, facilities, package formats and
total compliance to our code of ethics. (A very important plus
point.)
