ELECTION OF MR. B S RATHOR AS CHAIRMAN, AIRDA

The All India Resort Development Association(AIRDA), a national body of the Timeshare Resort Developers in India, has elected Mr. B S Rathor as its next Chairman. He takes over from Mr. Raju Shahani, President & G.M-RCI Asia & Middle East. In addition, he will continue with his ongoing responsibilities as Principal Advisor to the Association.

Sustained economic growth has given an impetus to the Indian Tourism industry and the Timeshare/Vacation Ownership/LifeTime Holiday segment is growing within it rapidly. Mr. B S Rathor will have responsibility to guide the affairs of AIRDA and its members to leverage this opportunity and make its contribution to promote Tourism. AIRDA is working on a Code of Ethics and self regulatory mechanisms to safeguard consumer interest.

The Timeshare segment is an integral part of the Tourism industry and contributes to all aspects of tourism – inbound, outbound and domestic. More specifically, domestic segment. The Timeshare industry provides a direct thrust to domestic travel and has grown over 20% annually in the recent past when the global economy was fraught with uncertainty. More global hotel chains are entering Timeshare. Thus the platform has been set for a radical growth of the Vacation Ownership Industry.

AIRDA’s new office has been set up in Chennai in November 2003 to provide service to its members and consumers, headed by an Executive Officer.
