There are several sections of the site that clearly spell out the
benefits (link to be given to timeshare benefits section) of timeshare
and answer most frequently asked questions (link to be given to
FAQs). Here are a few questions that you should be asking yourself
before selecting a timeshare that’s right for you.
- o Does the timeshare you choose allow you to take the kind of
holiday you had in mind?
- Have you looked at all the resorts that offer packages that
fit your requirements?
- Are you getting the best deal for the package that you have
chosen?
- Does your timeshare package allow you to ‘exchange’
points or credits for a holiday in other resorts/ destinations?
- Is the timeshare resort a member of AIRDA?
- Does the package you’ve chosen offer you accommodation
that’s right for your whole family?
Here are a few tips you could keep in mind when you are choosing
the right timeshare:
1. If you want to holiday at any time of the year: Go for the
prime season - so you won't have to holiday only on a given week
each year
2. Choose a resort that has a reasonable maintenance fee
3. Choose a timeshare value package that suits your budget and
holiday options. Be clear as to the annual maintenance charges
and other fees that you must pay.
4. Choose a resort that is reputed and is an AIRDA member
5. Ensure that the timeshare package you buy does not charge
utility fees for exchanges within the AIRDA member developers
6. Interact only with authorized sales representatives of resorts
7. As far as possible, have everything put on paper so that both
the seller and you are in clear understanding of what you are
entitled to.
8. Never buy into an apartment which is not yet built or into
a resort with incomplete leisure facilities, even if they are
"promised"
9. If you buy into incomplete accommodation, ensure that your
money is returned to you if you do not get use of the accommodation
within the time stated on the agreement
10. Most important: Never make your buying decision in a hurry.
Take your time, choose what you want and where you want your holiday.
It is recommended that you never buy at a presentation - you are
making a decision to spend a large sum of money within only a
few hours of first seeing the product. Take weeks, even months
on your decision and in getting the best deal - then you can feel
comfortable about your purchase for the years to come. A hasty
decision is often regretted at leisure
